What is Guided Biofilm Therapy?
Biofilm is the living layer of bacteria that forms on your teeth every day. It's the true source of dental disease — cavities, gum inflammation, bad breath — and within 24–72 hours it hardens into tartar that brushing can't remove.
Guided Biofilm Therapy (GBT) is a systematic protocol developed by EMS Switzerland that makes biofilm visible with a disclosing agent, then removes it with warm water, air, and natural erythritol powder — the Swiss Airflow® technology — instead of scraping it off with metal instruments.
"Guided" is the point: because the biofilm is disclosed before removal and checked after, nothing gets missed and nothing gets treated blind.
Why patients choose Gentle Swiss Clean™
No metal scraping. A warm mixture of water, air, and natural erythritol powder — a comfortable experience even for sensitive patients.
Superior biofilm removal. Advanced technology removes up to 100% of harmful biofilm — the true source of dental disease — including the areas that are easy to miss.
Preserves tooth structure. Minimally invasive — protecting your enamel and gum tissue while thoroughly cleaning.
Removes stains, not enamel. Airflow® lifts coffee, tea, and wine staining gently — noticeably brighter teeth without abrasive polishing.
Microbiome-balanced approach. Targets harmful bacteria while preserving beneficial oral flora, supporting your body's natural defense systems. GBT is fluoride-free.
Whole-body health benefits. Reduces inflammation and bacterial load that contribute to heart disease, diabetes, cognitive decline and other systemic conditions.
Efficient, thorough appointments. Shorter appointment times with more comprehensive results that last longer between visits.
Your hygienists see more than teeth
Kelly Semkowski, RDH & Rebecca Magura, RDH
Your Gentle Swiss Clean™ is delivered by registered dental hygienists who are also trained orofacial myofunctional therapists (RDHU, MyoMentor, MasteringMyo). During every visit, they're also screening breathing patterns, tongue resting posture, and oral restrictions that affect sleep, speech, and development.
GBT for children
A child's first cleanings set their relationship with dentistry. The Gentle Swiss Clean™ is a warm spray — a first hygiene experience that makes the next visit easy. It's fluoride-free, gentle on developing teeth, and every children's visit includes the airway and function screening built into how we practice.
For rural families: one trip covers the whole household.
